![]() Whenever I buy a beer I haven't had before I google it to see what the style is, how people describe it, and importantly, how strong it is. I actually do take my phone out to find product information but only for beers or foods that don't have clear labelling. But these things will never be in a liquor store that needs them because stock supply changes so often, beers come and go, it's expensive, etc. Like you tap the picture of the can, it shows you ABV, RateBeer rating, description. I could actually see the convenience of this at a big beer liquor store, where you could tap a screen to get details about a beer instead of having to reach in, spin the can to find the relevant info, etc. I shop at Walgreens at least once a week usually go there on the weekends with my 3 year old to get chocolate milk or OJ, and if she ever saw the picture for chocolate milk and they were sold out that'd be a melt down waiting to happen. I'd be shocked if any of these screens shows infromation that anybody considers relevant to buying. I generally prefer beer to be 5.8%-7.3%, I will go lower or higher for special occassions, but rarely.įor food I only do it for things like checking allergies or ingredients for dietary reasons. So I almost always look up the ABV if it's not printed on the can, which it often isn't. Most 8%+ IPAs will be described as double or imperials, most 10%+ will be described as triples, but not always, and sometimes something like "Double Dry Hop," can be misconstrued as 'double' for ABV. ![]() There might be 100 different choices of IPAs at the liquor store, but a lot of those are completely different styles of beer and I really dislike some, and really like others, and there really isn't a consistent ABV and naming convention. I actually do take my phone out to find product information and reviews but only for beers or foods that don't have clear labelling. "Cooler Screens CEO Arsen Avakian said he developed the concept after watching in-store customers whip out their phones to find product information and reviews."
